Course Overview
The BCIT Power Lab course will provide a Power Engineer Trainee with the specific practical skills necessary for the safe and efficient operation of a steam plant. The BCIT Power Lab course will consist of practical training totalling 200 hours which will complement the student's education. The trainee will perform various operating routines and maintenance practices. Assignments will require research and practice which will include competency based evaluations. Successful completion of this course combined with the BCIT Letter of Completion for the 4th Class (Part A and Part B) will allow the student to apply to write Inter-Provincial Examinations with the BC Safety Authority.
Prerequisite(s)
- 65% in POWR 1300 and 65% in POWR 1310
- Students must have completed Fourth Class Part A (POWR 1213 or 1300), and must be half way through Fourth Class Part B (POWR 1214 or POWR 1310) or completed a technical background from a related Engineering Program and have English 12 or completion of a BCIT English pre-test.
