Introduces CAD for Architects, building designers and builders. Designed to familiarize the student with the operation of AutoCAD in the architectural environment utilizing the most recent release of the software.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate the fundamental concepts in the production of drawing with a computer aided drafting system. Apply proper file management organization that will increase productivity. Utilize the software to complete assignments that align with industry application, as follows:
- Produce simple floor plans and objects.
- Manipulate existing drawings.
- Use various drawings and editing techniques to enhance design drawings.
- Enter text and dimension drawing.
- Define and set layering standards for plotting drawings.

- No class Monday, February 17. ***This is not a self-paced course. There will be specific time lines for assignments and exams.*** You will require a stable internet connection, a laptop or desktop computer for this course. You must also have an e-mail address and access to a computer capable of downloading basic documents. Students will participate in weekly "Virtual Classroom" sessions, per the above class schedule. Important course information will be sent to registered students closer to course start date. Make sure your email address on your student account is correct and up to date. This course require students to work on assignments and projects outside of class time. Having your own computer to work on projects between classes is highly recommended. AutoCAD is available for the Windows and Mac platforms. Please check Autodesk’s website for minimum hardware and operating system requirements for AutoCAD. This course is eligible for students to receive funding through the StrongerBC future skills grant at www.bcit.ca/financial-aid/strongerbc-future-skills-grant/. Students will register for the course themselves, and then apply for the StrongerBC future skills grant to cover payment (if eligible). The Winter 2025 StrongerBC future skills grant (FSG) will only be eligible for students continuing their FSG-eligible program that they started in Fall 2024.
